In the message on yesterday from Judges 7:1-7, God let Gideon know he had too many to win the battle over the Midianites. Gideon started with 32,000 and ended up with 300 to go to battle! In that, God showed me that some times we to have too many to be victorious over our Midianties (the people, places or things wreaking havoc in our lives).
We have too many of our own thoughts; we tend to have a know-it-all attitude, we tend to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to, we tend to think more negative thoughts than positive. More often than not, we allow those negative thoughts to leave our heads and end up in our hands and we do things we regret.
We have too many people in our space and in our face not beneficial to us; we befriend people on facebook, twitter then conform to the nonsense in cyberspace, we use this social network to speak blessings and curses at the same time which is contrary to the word of God, we use this network of friends so we say, to bless and thank God in one sentence and speak profanity in the next, how is that for letting your light shine before men so they can see your good works and glorify your father in heaven????
We have too many mood swings; today our God is awesome and nobody’s greater, tomorrow when a test arise, he’s just alright, but God is the same everyday, he’s still the all sufficient one, always has been and always will be. When things are good, and when they are not so good, he is still able to do exceeding and abundantly more than any of us can think or imagine. I could go on and on….but you get the message.
Therefore, like Gideon, first, seize the moment to do something great in the name of our God, be ready to act when God speaks, knowing all the glory belongs to him and we can take no credit, we are just instruments in his hands.
Second, be willing to separate yourself from people not going where God is sending you, remembering he said, he would never leave you, nor forsake you. Know that God will not leave you comfortless and he will send you the company you need.
Third, stick to the strategic plan of God, Gideon and his men didn’t move until it was time. Every man stayed in his lane, they didn’t have their own agendas. Don’t try to change God’s plan, his plan is to prosper you and give you hope and a future.
Fourth, when it’s time for battle, be ready to sick’em (a term my uncle used to cause his dogs to attack), seige the camp, sound the alarm, let your Midianite(s) know you are coming to take back everything he stole, your joy, your health, your family, your finances, your relationships, your career, all the spoils!!
One thing all God’s children can rest assured of, the enemy already knows he’s defeated, he only desires to keep bullying you out of your position. But, today I command you to rise up and fight the good fight, put the enemy in his place which is under your feet! You are already a winner in Christ!!
Until next time, be encouraged!
