“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” (Luke 1:38)
In a women’s Bible study group we studied the scripture above in a lesson from Joanna Weaver’s book, “A Mary’s Spirit”: “Allowing God to Change Us from the Inside Out.” One thing we discovered is it’s not our job to accomplish the will of God, our job is to say yes, be willing to participate and God will do the rest. Stop looking for reasons you can’t and look for ways you can. Don’t stop to ponder the what if’s, what if I fail, what if people talk about me, etc… just obey and believe that God will do what He says He will do even when it doesn’t make sense.
Donna Otto wrote, “There will be sacrifices as well as surprises when you choose to say yes to God….sacrifices of your time, of your plans, and sometimes of your dearly held dreams, but God’s intentions overall is to bless you. He has promised to dwell in you just as you dwell in him. Once you say yes to the Lord, you won’t know exactly where you end up, but you can know you’ll always find your way home.” Isn’t that our ultimate goal?
